Business tax planning
Year-round planning for business owners: entity choice, estimated payments and timing decisions reviewed by a CPA before year end, to help anticipate tax obligations and make informed decisions.
Switching
Moving your books here, or starting from scratch
If you already use QuickBooks Online or Xero, nothing moves: you add our team as accountant users. We review the setup and opening balances, identify any cleanup needed, and agree on its scope and timing before the first regular monthly close. If the books live in a spreadsheet, or nowhere, we set up the file, connect the bank and credit card feeds, and scope the catch-up the same way.
What we need to start: read-only access to the bank and credit card accounts through the software's feeds, last year's tax return, and your payroll provider's reports if you have employees. Once we agree to work together, we schedule a 30-minute onboarding call about how money moves through your business. The handover from a previous bookkeeper is handled on our side; you do not have to referee.
Already behind?
Catch-up and cleanup are quoted as a fixed fee after a review of the file and coordinated with any unfiled returns. We agree on their scope and timing before the first regular monthly close.
How it works
Getting started
Intake call
What the business does, which accounts exist, what the books look like today. Fee quoted in writing.
Setup or cleanup
Accounts connected, chart of accounts set, and any cleanup identified, with its scope and timing agreed before the first regular monthly close.
Monthly rhythm
Books normally closed by the 15th of the following month when your records arrive on time, statements in your portal. We reply within two business hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern.
Together with your return
The simplest arrangement
When the same firm keeps the books and prepares the return, the year-end package feeds the return directly and estimated payments are planned from real numbers. Bookkeeping engagements start with an intake call so the scope and fee are clear from the first month.
Questions
Common questions
Do you work with QuickBooks Online and Xero?
Yes. We support both QuickBooks Online and Xero. If you are on spreadsheets or desktop software, we discuss the move on the intake call.
When will I receive my monthly financial statements?
We agree on a reporting schedule with you, normally closing the books by the 15th of the following month, provided the necessary records are received on time.
Are quarterly planning calls included?
Quarterly planning calls, additional filings, and ongoing advisory are provided as needed and within the agreed engagement scope. The scope is written into your engagement agreement before the first month.
Do you run payroll?
Payroll is processed through a payroll provider; the firm sets it up, reconciles it in the books and makes sure filings and deposits are on time.
What does monthly bookkeeping cost?
A monthly fee quoted in writing after the intake call, based on the number of accounts and the volume of transactions. Cleanup of past months is quoted separately as a fixed fee.
How fast can a cleanup be done?
It depends on the months involved and the state of the records. You get a fixed-fee quote and a date after a short review of the accounts.
